A new book, ‘Being in Nature’, has just been published by local environmentalists James Farrell and Lee Evans.
Inspired by wildlife from Brighton and Hove and across the UK, the book aims to help the reader find a deeper sense of belonging with nature. There are 20 simple practices to try, each underpinned by science, and illustrated beautifully by local designer Lucy Williams (creator of the Brighton Pier and Open Market signs).
James says “We have been particularly inspired by recent research on nature connection. This shows that nature-connected people take up to twice as much action for nature and the wider environment. In these times of biodiversity and climate crises, this is more important than ever.”

The book also draws on medical and psychological research which shows a huge range of physical, mental and community health benefits from engaging with nature.

The book and ebook can be bought direct from the authors, as an e-book and at local bookshops including Kemptown Bookshop.
