5 UNESCO designated sites across Europe and North America have been selected for the 3rd-year cycle of the project funded by the abrdn Charitable Foundation (aCF).

The project provides a significant opportunity for joint action to promote sustainable development and tackle the climate crisis on the ground, while making important contributions towards achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

UNESCO selected sustainable development projects with the potential to be scaled up to regional and global levels to implement the Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 6 – Clean water and sanitation, SDG 13 – Climate action, SDG 14 – Life below Water and SDG 15 – Life on land.

The Living Coast received funding in the first year of the programme for a collaborative research project led by the University of Brighton to develop impact monitoring of The Aquifer Partnership’s Wild Park Rainscape Project.

We will join the launch event for the 3rd cycle in September, which will bring together the 5 new sites, as well as the existing 10 pilot sites from the previous cycles, providing an opportunity for all 15 participating sites to engage in peer learning and share knowledge and best practice.
