We are seeking two Youth Representatives to join a nationwide movement amplifying youth voices in environmental conservation within UNESCO biospheres. This is more than just a local effort; it’s about connecting biospheres globally to make a real impact. 

This voluntary experience is open to full-time students aged 16-25 living or studying in the Biosphere areas across Brighton & Hove, Adur & Worthing, Brighton & Hove City Council, and Lewes District Council, including Newhaven and Seaford. No need to be a sustainability expert! We encourage applicants from all backgrounds, especially those from underrepresented communities, to apply.

The Living Coast is part of a worldwide network of UNESCO biospheres, and by participating, you’ll be contributing to both local initiatives and global sustainable development efforts. This opportunity is about making global change possible through local action.

As a Youth Representative, you will:

🌱 Collaborate with Local Stakeholders: Work alongside community members, local partners, and stakeholders to promote conservation, education, and sustainable business. This role is about bridging the gap between young people and decision-makers, ensuring that youth perspectives are heard in local and global sustainability initiatives.

🌱 Join the UK and Ireland Biosphere Youth Network: Represent The Living Coast on an international stage, joining inspiring individuals in the UK, Ireland, and beyond. This network connects biospheres across the globe, creating a platform for youth to elevate perspectives on environmental challenges, biodiversity, and sustainable development. You’ll be part of a global dialogue on how local actions can drive worldwide change.

🌱 Engage with Local Youth: Lead efforts to raise awareness within the community, encouraging local youth to participate in the biosphere’s mission. You’ll promote volunteering and educational activities, fostering a network of informed, active environmental advocates.
